While all the things to discover and do on our website are family friendly, the following are extra special family activities for children visiting southeast Ireland.
💖 Galbally village – 3 miles from Corderry Farm
The village park, just 3 miles from Corderry Farm, has a tennis court (which is free to use – just bring your own ball and rackets) a playground and sports field. These are located behind the Community centre.
🌳 Griston Bog – Only 10 minutes from Corderry Farm
Griston Bog is a lovely place to spend an afternoon with a picnic. This is a wonderful place to spot nature, being home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, bees and insects and different types of water life, some of which are now in danger of extinction in many parts of the world. Read more here

Here at Corderry Farm, challenge each other and have fun, whether you’re learning a new skill or brushing up on old. It contains a dart board, foosball table, pool table and table tennis.

🚜 Marlhill Open Farm – Only 35 minutes from Corderry Farm
Marlhill open farm is located near New Inn, Cashel, Co. Tipperary, only 10km from Cahir Town. It is designed with a young family in mind.
Marlhill has approximately 300m of outdoor walkway around animal paddocks, covered sandpit, indoor and outdoor climbing frames, mini diggers, pedal go carts and tractors.
Stroll through the aviary and animal housing area with designated feeding and petting times. See rabbits, lambs, piglets, goats, calves, hens, pigeons and donkeys. Watch seasonal activities in action including ploughing, silage, baling hay and calving. Have lots of fun in the playground area.
Visit the outdoor dining area serving both sweet and savoury delights to suit all tastes.
🧚🏼Terra Nova Gardens – Only 30 minutes from Corderry Farm
Another one of the recommended family activities south east Ireland is Terra Nova Gardens, one of Ireland’s best known small, privately owned gardens and is a firm favourite with garden visitors of all ages. A half-acre that appears so much larger due to the use of weaving pathways, imaginative features and an ingenious use of space, nothing goes to waste here in this lush oasis. Originally a wet, boggy field full of horsetail and rushes, it has been transformed beyond recognition and now features regularly in the media.

- Fairy Garden
Behind the garden is a fairy fort that has been there for many thousands of years and an even older one once stood where our garden is now. Though the soil was poor the plants grew fast and Terra Nova could feel the fairies working beside us as the garden grew and blossomed. Many strange and wonderful things have happened here over the years and the fairies’ strong presence can be felt by many visitors. Go visit for yourself and feel the magic of Terra Nova. There is also a fairy shop.
👣 Walk and Explore
Explore the beauty of nature on one of the many trails from Corderry Farm. Put on your wellies and discover the sights and sounds of the countryside. After your adventure, return back to the cottage and warm up by one of the cozy woodburning stoves. Treat yourself to a delicious hot chocolate and enjoy the comfort of your home away from home.
🪨Mitchelstown Caves – Only 30 minutes from Corderry Farm
These caves hold a magical quality and need to be seen and savoured to fully appreciate their beauty. On the guided tour you will enter the cave through the original entrance that Michael Condon discovered and descend four flights of steps, from that point on the cave is level and you are now following the route of an old stream passage that formed there thousands of years ago.
🌳Lough Gur – Only 30 minutes from Corderry Farm
Lough Gur has so much to offer for a lovely day out for all. A tranquil lake, beautiful walks, green flag award park, lake view playground, kayaking, fairies, hill top visitor centre and spectacular views all round. Read more here
🐄 Meet the animals – at Corderry Farm
Chat with the horses over the gate, have an audience the cows, let the hens be your constant companions, feed the goats or simple play with the kittens. They are all waiting for you at Corderry Farm
🦌Doneraile Court and Wildlife Park – Only 30 minutes from Corderry Farm
A fabulous place to spend a day whether you take a much-advised tour of the court and gardens, enjoy the lovely playground, explore one of the beautiful walks, have a chat with the deer, refuel at the gorgeous coffee shop or just sit with a picnic beside the soothing river, you will not be disappointed.
🦒 Fota Wildlife Park – Only 60 minutes from Corderry Farm
Fota Wildlife Park is a 100-acre wildlife park located on Fota Island, near Carrigtwohill, County Cork, Ireland. Opened in 1983, it is an independently funded, not-for-profit charity that is one of the leading tourism, wildlife and conservation attractions in Ireland.
If you or your children have a favourite animal, Fota Wildlife Park is the perfect place to observe it in a habitat carefully designed to promote biodiversity and encourage natural behaviour.
Children and adults alike will enjoy exploring Fota Wildlife Park aboard the Park Tour Train, and there are several locations around the park that are ideal for enjoying a picnic or an ice cream. Children of all ages will love to discover the many playgrounds around the Wildlife Park, and you can buy duck food so that they can feed the residents duck.
🏰Bunratty Castle & Folk Park – Only 60 minutes from Corderry Farm
This is an action-packed full day activity with so much to see and discover. As well as the beautiful castle to explore, Bunratty Castle also offers the opportunity to enjoy the Folk Park where rural farmhouses, village shops and streets are recreated and furnished as they would have appeared at that time according to their social standing.

🐎Fethard Horse Country Experience
The Museum is located in the heart of the Golden Vale, the FHC Experience offers visitors the opportunity to discover the rich culture, heritage and history of the region. Part of Ireland’s Ancient East, this interactive experience examines the relationship between the people, the land and the horse revealing how they are all inextricably linked.
🚜Leahy’s Open Farm – Only 60 minutes from Corderry Farm
Leahy’s Open Farm caters for the perfect family activities in south east Ireland regardless of the weather. Facilities include indoor and outdoor play areas, a quad and barrel train, real JCB mini diggers, crazy golf, a large climbing frame, adventure trail and a big ‘drop’ slide.
Children will have fun running through the large maze, pedalling indoor and outdoor go-karts and interacting with a huge selection of animals such as the snake, the camel, the mice, the alpaca and much much more.
Food is available in the spacious coffee shop. Or why not grab a cup of coffee while the children play in the new soft indoor Play barn.
